National Student Leadership Forum 2009

According to many of the 184 delegates who attended, the 2009 National Student Leadership Forum was a powerful, inspiring and life-changing four days. The Forum however, is so much more than a conference- it is a call to a radically different way of life. One in which leadership is not so much about getting to the top and furthering yourself, but learning that the secret to true fulfilment comes in finding a way to use your gifts and energies to serve others. This concept of servant leadership is the core message of NSLF.

“I came here expecting to learn skills about leadership. I haven’t. I have learnt how to make myself a better person and a person for others, so being a leader comes as a by-product. My journey has been wonderful and I am inspired. I have been inspired to get to know myself better.”
Sophie-Anna, NSW

The National Student Leadership Forum on faith & values is the initiative of Members and Senators of the Federal Parliament, supported by business and community leaders. For the past 12 years, this truly non-partisan event, has been influencing the next generation of leaders, by inviting them to Canberra and beginning a conversation about how what we believe influences how we act. We discover that our internal motivations are central, and that how we wield our leadership has deep significance for both our country and those close to us. The delegates are privileged to hear from National Leaders in politics, business, and community organisations and interact with them in a personal and candid manner.

“I felt it was a great experience to meet the leaders of our nation as they gave us inspiration and cemented something in each of us to strive for our very best.” Esther, VIC

We are convinced that the work of the Forum and the ideas and relationships generated during our time together will continue to have an enduring impact on the future of Australia as well as its present leadership in Canberra.

If you know of a young person aged 18-26 years old and believe they have a spark of leadership potential, whether latent or highly developed, we welcome you to nominate them by sending their Name and contact details to info@nslf.org.au or via phone on (02) 9499 9300.
