The Richard Baker Senate Essay Prize 2010
The Richard Baker Senate Essay Prize, named in honour of the first President of the Australian Senate, is a prize awarded annually to the best student essay in each state and territory on a topic that promotes knowledge of the Australian Senate and its work.
The topic for 2010
June 2010 marks 40 years since the Senate committee system was established. How have committees contributed to the Senate's accountability function?
The prize is open to all Australian secondary school students currently enrolled in years 10 to 12.
Your essay should address the topic and be 500-750 words in length (exclusive of end notes), in English and fully documented.Your essay must be received by the close of business - Monday 30 August 2010
You may choose to present your response to the topic entirely in written essay form or you may like to use multimedia, audio, video or photographic material as part of your response with a minimum 500 word component.
